Cookie Policy

1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They allow sites to remember your preferences and understand how you use them. CountingDate also uses browser localStorage — a similar technology that stores small amounts of data locally in your browser with no expiry date.

2. How CountingDate uses cookies

CountingDate uses a minimal set of storage mechanisms to keep the site working and, with your consent, to understand how visitors use our tools. We do not use advertising cookies, social media tracking, or sell any data to third parties.

3. Types of cookies and storage we use

Strictly Necessary (localStorage)

These are required for the site to function correctly. They cannot be disabled. The only item stored is your cookie consent preference.

Name Purpose Duration
countingdate_cookie_consent Stores your consent choice (accepted / rejected) Until you clear browser storage

Analytics Cookies (optional — requires consent)

If you click "Accept All", we load Google Analytics 4 to collect anonymized data about how visitors use CountingDate — which calculators are used most, how long people spend on pages, and where traffic comes from. This helps us improve the tools. No personally identifiable information is collected.

Name Purpose Duration
_ga Google Analytics — distinguishes unique users 2 years
_ga_* Google Analytics — stores session state 2 years

4. Your choices

When you first visit CountingDate, a banner lets you choose between:

  • Accept All — enables analytics cookies in addition to necessary storage.
  • Necessary Only — only the consent preference is stored. No analytics.

You can change your preference at any time by clearing your browser's localStorage for countingdate.com, which will cause the banner to reappear on your next visit. You can also manage cookies directly in your browser settings (Chrome: Settings → Privacy → Cookies; Firefox: Settings → Privacy → Cookies and Site Data).

5. Third-party cookies

CountingDate does not embed advertising, social media, or third-party tracking widgets. The only potential third-party cookie is Google Analytics, and only after your explicit consent. Google Analytics is configured with IP anonymization enabled.

For more information on how Google uses data, see Google's Cookie Policy.

6. Updates to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy periodically. When we do, the "last updated" date at the top will change. We encourage you to review this page occasionally.
